| Before you can use Opera for web browsing, signed and encrypted e-mail, you need to install your digital certificate. To do this follow the instruction below. Click on 'preferences' under the options menu in the Opera browser. | |
| Navigate to the 'security' option under the 'Advanced' tab and select the 'Manage Certificates' option. | |
| Click on the 'Import' option. | |
| The 'import certificate' file dialog box will appears. (N.B. If certificates and keys have previously been installed, a password prompt for the Master Password will appear. Entering the correct password to start the import dialogue.) Change Files of type: to all files *.* and then locate and select either the .pfx or .p12 file to be imported. Click 'Open' when ready. | |

Root Certificate Installation
The Issuing Authority's Root Certificate will very likely have been installed into Opera along with your own certificate. This root certificate is required by Opera in order to trust certificates issued by the Issuing Authority (including your own). If you cannot find the Issuing Authority's root certificate in your 'Signers' store, it may not have been supplied with your user certificate. In that case, you need to go to the Issuing Authority's web site and download the certificate from there.
At the Issuing Authority's web site, there should be a clearly labelled link that enables you to download the root certificate.

| Click on the appropriate link to bring up the window shown: Depending on the service there may be a single Authority or multiple Authorities. This process will be necessary for each individual Authority listed. Highlight the appropriate Authority and select the 'Install' button. |
| You will be asked to confirm your selection to install the Authority certificate. Click 'OK' to continue. The certificate for the selected Authority is now installed in your browser. |
If there were multiple Authority certificates you will need to import all the certificates in the chain. Repeat the process and select the other required certificates. |
